Away Game and Family fun

Chris played away today.  I don't know if it was that school had started this week or that they were missing one of their key players, but the "umph" was not in their game today.  They had fun though, it was not near as hot as last week but still pretty warm.  Chris had learned some new plays this last week at practice and was so excited to use them in the game today.  They ended up losing 26-7, Chris actually made the only touchdown of the game, though they should have had another one - bad call - we have video proof!, any way at the end of the game you would have never known that they had lost all the boys were upbeat and happy, and that's what counts.

I had gone up to talk to Chris during the game, and he says this to me:
Did you see when I handed it off and then faked that I still had it, they totally thought I still had it!!!
Funny kid.  He really is having a blast this year.

#55 - break time

He is getting the hand-off timing down pretty good.

If you look close you can see Chris' feet coming out on the left side, on the ground, in the middle of the pack.

After the game we enjoyed the afternoon at Andrea and Travis' house, we haven't seen them for a while and it was fun to catch up.  It's sad when life takes over and you don't see the people that matter the most, especially when they only live 20 minutes away!

After we left there, the Nate and Ash Family, and the Barry and Kelli Family came over and we enjoyed an evening of company and a brand new fire pit (bowl).  I was pretty exhausted by this time, but I was really happy to have them all here.  I am so blessed that we have family close by, and that we are able to spend time together.

We did it........

We made it through the first week of school. Barely.  It's been a busy week, it seems that it has for most people.  I'm glad it's almost over.

Pictures from the ward swim party: (what a way to end the school week)

season HOME opener

Chris did another awesome job today, his running backs did great to.  It was DANG hot today too.  They won (31-37).  They may be only 8 and 9 year olds but this was an intense game, right down to the end.
Good Job guys.

Lined up for the National Anthem
which I thought was awesome and so great that they did it.

another keeper play
(tried not to add so many pics as last time)
unfortunately he did not make it into the end zone.

Painted and sort of loaded back in

This project almost makes not want to paint again for a long time (in reality, not really, I would paint again tomorrow if I had a room to paint). It hurts to type, but my room is YELLOW!!!!  The pictures don't really do it justice, it's freakin bright.  I LOVE IT!  I am sanding and painting (of course) shelves and what nots, trying to decide on new clock numbers and ordering pictures of the kids to hang up.  So as soon as that's all done I will post more pictures.

Happy Birthday Shelby

Have a Fantastic Day.

Happy BIrthday Matt!!!!

I Love you, sorry I'm boring and we have nothing better to do than live life on your birthday.  Maybe we'll get out for dinner and movie before our anniversary?!?

The kids had fun at Cherry Hill though!

First Football Game (of the season)

So I had to take a break from painting to attend a football game, it's taking a lot longer than it should be,  I'm pretty sure the fourth coat should wrap up the wall painting.  Then trim and ceiling fixes.  Any way, yesterday was Chris' first game of the season.  I was nervous, but he did awesome, and I only bawled ONCE!  To start off, all the players were on the sideline waiting for the game to start so there I was camera in hand searching the sideline for Chris.  I could not find him anywhere, when I finally turned my head to the field and there he was... in the middle of the field as one of three captains for the team, for the coin toss.  I ALMOST lost it here, but kept control of myself.  So the game starts, our defense the on field they hold the team and now it's the offense's turn.  First play, holding call 10 yards back, it's 2nd and 20. Next play, a 1-4 or 1-3 keeper (Chris' ball), he takes off gets like 15 yards back before he is tackled.  This is where I lost it, as soon as I saw him running with the ball and just kept going, man, that kid I don't know why he can get to me like that.  I'm glad to say that was the only emotional outburst of the day!  They went on and lost (13-21), but it was real close at the end for them to come back, a couple of penalties and a dropped pass killed them. But it was great to watch and now I can relax and really enjoy the rest of the season.

Preparing to play the game

Preparing to watch the game.. intently (so supportive that girl!)

Coin Toss

Watching "his" defense as he calls them

Hand off

Some sort of keeper play

Scrambling (me yelling, get rid of the ball!!)

Him know exactly what to do, sniff...

Lining up his front line

Oh CRAP!

He took a huge hit, and all he did was roll over on to his hit and punch the ground.
Matt..Nate... is all I could think

My hand, after two days of painting, an MRI, and $50 dollars at the orthopedists
to find out "yeah, we don't know what's wrong with it"

it's sort of tradition

Matt has left on his fishing trip for the weekend.  Guess what I'm going to do.... paint.. of course.  I think I usually save my biggest change painting projects for this fishing trip every year.  The best one by far was about 3 years ago.  He left for his trip and I decided to completely re-do the kitchen table and chairs!  When he left we a had a kitchen table sitting in the dining area of the house, when he got home and walked in, it was gone!  He has gotten use to to finding out what I've done now when he comes home.  This year, I'm painting, the office like I said I wanted to.  Bright Yellow!

BEFORE

Thank you to Barry and Kelli for the help they provided.  Sorry to make you babysit on your day off Barry.

A big day for Natalie

On the agenda for today:

Eye doctor - I have NEVER had an actual eye exam (that I can remember) unless the driving one at the DL division counts.  Having your eyes dilated SUCKS.  I hate not being able to see correctly.

Lunch, because an eye appt. at 10am does not leave time in the morning for proper personal hygiene AND breakfast.

Then on to Allergy to receive the weekly shot in each arm, and watch as the HUGE welts appear on the back of my arms.

Next, MRI on my hand because the highly educated orthopedic doctor (who can sew Matt's thumb back together and perform a complete ACL reconstruction on Nate's knee) can only say 'hum...weird' about the pain I am having in my hand.

Then to football practice, thank goodness for kind hearted brother's and sister's who will take your son to practice so he will be on time - and so the team can actually practice with a quarterback.

I kind of want to start painting my office to, but we'll see if there is time.  Kelli it sounds like you could use the soothing smell of paint and the meditative effects that only painting a room can provide. Your welcome to join me.

Football has begun

Chris has been practicing for just about three weeks now. I spent most of my evenings last year at this time at his practices, this year, not so much.  Matt is very faithful though. This year has been very different for Chris, he has really enjoyed football, he comes home so happy and tells me everything he learned and the name of the plays, and how well he did.  He just LOVES it this year.  He has been selected to be the quarterback... and the punter (I just nod and say OK). It started out that there were three quarterbacks, Chris being QB1, now there is ONE quarterback... Chris.  Matt always tells me how great he is doing and how well he is getting the plays and such, but I still have this nervous stomach about it.  Not because I'm worried about him getting hurt (Chris has his own team of angels, they are on shifts and I'm sure the turn-over is rapid!), he can take a hit... but what if he's no good!  How Terrible you're thinking..  but it's true.  Last year he was not in such a spotlight position, it makes me nervous.  I was able to witness practice tonight, Matt was right, he gets it.  To watch him out there having plays called into him and he knows exactly what to do, having two kids fight over who gets the ball thrown to them first (while they were messing around before practice) and quite authoritatively he tells them 'both of you go deep' - WHEN THE CRAP did my little boy grow up?  sniff (yes, Jeff I'm tearing up)

Chris punting

So now all I need to do, is create a game plan and play names for, go clean your room, get your shoes AND put them on your feet, and NO you may not wear your pajamas to school....  we'd be in great shape.

Nothing to say makes for a boring blog

So I'm really not holding out on you, I'm not moonlighting in the wee hours of the morning catching the bad guys, or discovering lost artifacts while my class back home gets the day off, and I KNOW that I do not have the Force (thankfully for my children's sake).  I don't have deep, inspirational thoughts to share with you as Kelli does.  I'm a boring person, which I really don't mind.  I often call my self the busiest person in the world, who accomplishes NOTHING.  I feel like I run all day, and nothing ever gets done.  I can however usually tell you where the great sales are! (maybe there's something in that I should take a deeper look into) :)  Maybe sometime this week, I'll throw some wrenches in and switch over to wordpress, there is a bunch of work I don't need, therefore it will probably happen!  Have a great day. I promise to tell you as soon as something exciting happens.
